This exhibition showcases the findings of an ambitious research project on the representations of poverty in Quebec.
This study, carried out at the provincial level, includes three major dimensions:
- interviews with 136 people living in poverty and 24 community organizations;
- an analysis of parliamentary proceedings, examining how poverty is addressed in the National Assembly of Quebec.
- a survey conducted in November 2024 among a representative sample of Quebec’s French-speaking population.
Full results of the survey (only in French)
This project was made possible by a partnership between TÉLUQ University, the Centre for the Study of Democratic Citizenship (CSDC), the Groupe interdisciplinaire et interuniversitaire de recherche sur l’emploi, la pauvreté et la protection sociale (GIREPS), the Commission des droits de la personne et des droits de la jeunesse, and the Collectif pour un Québec sans pauvreté.
It was supported by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC), the Canada Research Chair in Media Education and Human Rights, and the Chaire sur la démocratie, le vivre-ensemble et les valeurs communes au Québec.
